Tonight Thollem McDonas brings together two unique memorial projects for prominent members of the musical community: Pauline Oliveros and Stefano Scodanibbio.

Trio Music Minus One is a duo project between Thollem (Keyboard/Analog Effects) and Gino Robair (Drum Set/Electronics) that creates the contours of a sonic space for a third person in memoriam. This will be the first live performance - in memory of Pauline Oliveros. In 2013, the duo released an album on Setola di Maiale for their mutual friend/colleague/collaborator, Dennis Palmer.
Evolutions For Stefano will be performed for the first time on this continent as a trio with Lisa Mezzacappa (Bass) and Christina Stanley (Violin/Voice).
In 2010, Thollem was invited to perform on Claude Debussy's piano at Musée LaBenche in Brive-la-Garde, France. In turn, he invited Stefano Scodanibbio to join him in structured improvisations that he created specifically for the occasion and for the duo (the subsequent album was released on Die Schachtel). Before he died, Scodanibbio asked Thollem to perform these structures with three prominent Italian string players at his festival in Macerata, Italy. This marks just the second time Evolutions For Stefano has been performed.
Christina Stanley is a Bay Area based singer, multi instrumentalist, recording artist and electronic musician. She is currently an active performing musician working as a solo artist and as a member of various groups. She has performed and recorded as a member of SF Sound and ROVA Quartet and was a featured vocalist for the William Winant percussion ensemble and the Lightbulb Ensemble. She has been a featured Solo performer for the San Francisco Electronic Music Festival,and premiered works by George Lewis and Roscoe Mitchell for Mutable Music. She has been a studio musician for Kill Rockstars and 4AD, and has performed throughout the world. She studied music and performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, San Francisco State University, HB Studio and Mills College. Lisa Mezzacappa is a San Francisco Bay Area-based bassist, bandleader, composer, curator and producer. An active collaborator in the Bay Area music community for more than a dozen years, she leads her own groups Bait & Switch, the Interlopers, Nightshade, Eartheaters and the Lisa Mezzacappa Trio, and co-leads the ensembles BODABODA, duo B., Cylinder, the Mezzacappa-Phillips Duo, and the Caribbean folk band Les Gwan Jupons. Lisa has released her music on the Clean Feed, NoBusiness, Leo, NotTwo, Evander, Odd Shaped Case and Edgetone record labels, and has recorded as a sideperson for the Tzadik, Kadima and Porto Franco labels. She collaborates frequently on cross-disciplinary projects in sound installation, film/video, sculpture and public music/art.

Gino Robair has performed and recorded with Tom Waits, Anthony Braxton, John Zorn, Nina Hagen, Terry Riley, Lou Harrison, John Butcher, Derek Bailey, Peter Kowald, Otomo Yoshihide, and the ROVA Saxophone Quartet. He is one of the "25 innovative percussionists" included in the book Percussion Profiles (SoundWorld, 2001), as well as a founding member of the Splatter Trio and Pink Mountain. His opera, I, Norton, based on the life of Norton I, Emperor of the United States, has been performed throughout North America and Europe.

Thollem McDonas is a pianist, keyboardist, organist, composer, improviser, singer-songwriter, activist, author and teacher. He's spent his life skirting and erasing the edges of boundaries musically, culturally, geographically. His work is ever changing, evolving and responding to the times and his experiences, both as a soloist and in collaboration with hundreds of artists across idioms and disciplines. Though Thollem's widely known as an acoustic piano player, he's also the lead vocalist for the Italian agit-punk band Tsigoti and has recently branched out significantly into the world of electronics through a multitude of projects.
