Hyunhye (Angela) Seo is an artist exploring experimental composition and expression of sound and its manifestations within space and body. She is a member of the musical group Xiu Xiu, in which she extends the band’s visual themes to global diaspora, post-colonial spirituality and ritualism, and complex exotification/fetishization via videos that have been featured in film festivals around the world. Recently, her solo album, Strands, explores abstract soundscapes built with processed percussion, improvisational piano, and dark ambient material. Her sound installations in relation to this work create an immersive territory that compels the listener to question how they carry the immediate and lingering impact of sound. angelaseo.com

A collaboration of percussion improvisor Chris Corsano (Björk, Evan Parker, C. Spencer Yeh, Paul Flaherty, Sir Richard Bishop, Ben Chasny) and guitarist Bill Orcutt, former guitarist and founder of the Harry Pussy.

Chris Corsano is the rim-batterer of choice for some of the heaviest contemporary purveyors of both “jazz” (Evan Parker, Paul Flaherty, Joe McPhee, Mette Rasmussen) and “rock” (Björk, Sir Richard Bishop, Jim O'Rourke). He's also a formidable solo performer in his own right, as heard on solo recordings like The Young Cricketer, Another Dull Dawn, and Cut. “Corsano, despite being arguably the most riotously energetic and creative drummer in contemporary free jazz, does far more than merely bash his kit into submission. Playing loud does not mean abandoning subtlety, and Corsano’s sudden shifts of texture and dynamics are a wonder to behold” – The Wire

Former guitarist and founder of the duo Harry Pussy (later a trio) Bill Orcutt’s sound is a stuttered reimagining of blues guitar. One can hear familiar Southern folk scales between Orcutt’s jagged solo acoustic phrases, pulling and pushing melodies into unresolved fragments that eventually come unmoored in vast and satisfying note-torrents.

"...the sounds on Brace Up! display a constant flow of ideas and instantaneous conjugation of newly forged verbs. As great as Bill and Chris's previous duo records have been, this one's greater." – Byron Coley

"This was by far the best show I've seen this year” – WFMU

The Multivrs is Illuminated collaborates with The Lab to present the 143rd Dimension festival spotlighting BIPOC artists across diasporas and genres. The festival centers the work of Queer and Trans BIPOC artists, although everyone is welcome to join this celebratory and immersive event creating a dimension where love reigns supreme.

✨✨

The Multivrs returns, August 12th and 13th, 2022, SF, CA (irl) and streamed through the digital void. Again, there is an expansion on the original theme. This time it’s the WORLD WIDE CULT OF LOVE (WWCL). WWCL acknowledges that capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy, and gender binaries are arms of the colonial cult of death. Through distraction, dividing us into hierarchies and exploitation they attempt to deny the power of our divinity. Our love, unity, and dynamic visions for a new world create a power beyond measure. The 143rd Dimension is an offering to the World Wide Cult of Love because every act we take to love ourselves, love one another, to redistribute wealth and resources and especially for Black and Brown people, to bring our creative visions to life is a revolutionary act.

✨✨

Enter the Portal. We are the hands that cut the cord. ✨✨ we are imagining and embodying the futures we exist in. Now more than ever is a time to channel and transcend pain, to celebrate our music, art, existence, livelihood. We are descendants and transformers of infinity. Our inheritance is freedom, our inheritance is joy, our inheritance is rage, our inheritance is love. Shine the light on the Multivrs within. BLACK BROWN INDIGENOUS TRANS QUEER POWER NOW!
